They say the third time is a charm, well, Soneva Jani, is the third property from the Soneva team that pioneered the around-the-clock butler service, and it is beyond a charm, it is Utopia.
Soneva Jani, located in the Medhufaru lagoon in the Noonu Atoll, comprises five islands, the largest of which is Medhufaru, approximately 150 acres in size.
The resort can be reached by a scenic 40-minute seaplane flight direct from Malé International Airport.
After staying there recently, I can truly say that there are many languages in the world, but my smile speaks them all at Soneva Jani.
The Indian Ocean has been redefined since Soneva Jani arrived and the resort provides an opportunity to create your world, your way and your moment.
Satisfy any craving all day, every day. Literally, there is an all day ice cream bar, an all day chocolate bar and cheese/salad bar any time you wish.
Effortlessly blending heritage and innovation, Soneva Jani offers high-end cuisine and fresh, culinary flavors. Chef Kichii has a simple mission: to make people happy. As Soneva Jani’s Grand Master Chef, he cooks from the heart, following the Japanese philosophy of ‘omotenashi’, which means crafting thoughtful and rare dining experiences that are unique for each guest. Having gained two Michelin stars before joining the Soneva team, Chef Kiichi is famed for his playful and informal approach to cooking.
The angles of paradise refract the sunlight like a beautifully lit jewel and the intimate retreat offers unparalleled access to the regions thriving marine life with soft shapes that catch the rays under the wide blue skies amongst the idyllic island life.

With pristine beaches for relaxing and endless possibilities, there is so much to fall in love with. Bushland hikes and cooling swims, whale sharks and Manta Rays galore.
Find magic in the everyday and eternity in the ordinary in a modern sanctuary in natural splendor.
From afar, the Maldives looks like a child’s drawing: an atoll appearing in a cerulean sea, the sunshine and smiling faces; however, it truly is a once-in-a lifetime experience that awaits in storybook scenery, where one can unpack the thrill of original discovery at any age.

Transported by the rich, unexpected flavors that await you. One or my other favorite areas on the property is the CINEMA PARADISO, where I watched classic and contemporary favorites beneath the stars, while chefs crafted a menu to my delight.

It’s not everyday you can get so far from the everyday; however, Soneva Jani is a place where taking an express route to the road less travelled isn’t just an idea, it’s practically a guarantee. Whether you want to follow a tried-and-true itinerary or just relax and wander into the unknown – this game-changing resort is anything but ordinary.

It’s no wonder this escape was devised to suit the burned-out businessperson and the anxious millennial, the exhausted parent and the party-hard Peter Pan.

The Indian-British hotelier Sonu Shivdasani and his Swedish wife, Eva, rewrote the rules of hospitality in 1995 when they introduced the barefoot luxury resort Soneva Fushi in the Maldives and launched Six Senses in 2012. Soneva Fushi has sustainable and ethical practices as the foundation of their core values. From having their own glass factory that takes in glass from other resorts and repurposes them into tableware, ornaments and pieces of art to teaching local children how to swim – Soneva Fushi offers beyond wanderlust but also an oasis of otherworldy beauty.

Overwater suites ensure privacy, quiet ambiance and gentle movement of marine life amidst the exotic turquoise hues of the ocean.

In addition, their two other properties Soneva Jani in the Maldives, Soneva Namoona on the local Maldivian islands of Maalhos, Dharavandhoo, Kihaadhoo and Soneva Kiri, in Thailand. The brand produces their own drinking water, uses compost to fertilize vegetable gardens and tries to employ as many women possible. It’s no wonder they are expanding so fast and efficiently, by even acquiring an island in Okinawa, Japan beginning construction in mid-2021.
I personally love the Soneva Jani for its laid-back, remote feeling of a revitalizing retreat and enchanting shoreline with uncrowded beaches, offering a reimagined wellness experience and world class cuisine.

From postcard-perfect scenery to social media moments you’ll want to share, Soneva Jani will inspire your sense of awakening.
